Royal Caribbean International opened bookings for individuals who wish to travel on the new Freedom of the Seas, the flagship of a new Freedom class of ships. Group bookings won't open for a few weeks. Freedom of the Seas will sail year-round, seven-night western Caribbean itineraries from Miami to Cozumel, Mexico; George Town, Grand Cayman; Montego Bay, Jamaica; and Royal Caribbean's private destination, Labadee, Hispaniola. Freedom will feature an ice skating rink; the Royal Promenade interior shopping, dining and entertainment street; and the largest version to date of the line's signature rock-climbing wall. Freedom of the Seas also will offer wireless technology throughout the ship for Internet and cell phone access, as well as flat-panel televisions in all staterooms and public areas. The line will provide more details of the new features in early May, a year ahead of the ship's debut. Freedom will be the largest cruise ship in the world when she debuts in 2006, even larger than Cunard's Queen Mary 2.
